How to use / application guide

  1. Before you order: This is a mixed-to-order tinted paint. Double-check your colour choice before checkout.
  2. Preparation (new surfaces): Surfaces must be sound, suitably dry, and free from anything that could affect adhesion. Porous/high-suction surfaces should be treated with Sandtex Trade Stabilising Solution.
  3. Preparation (previously painted): Remove loose or failing paint by scraping/brushing with a stiff bristle brush (not wire) to a sound edge. Remove organic growth and treat with Sandtex Trade Fungicide. For poor surfaces, mechanical cleaning may be required (e.g. pressure washing 1500–2000 psi / 102–136 bar). Fill cracks and small defects with Sandtex Trade Ready Mixed or Exterior Easiplast and finish to match.
  4. Chalking areas: Stabilise all bare, filled, and chalking areas with Sandtex Trade Stabilising Solution.
  5. Gloss-painted areas: Wash with hot water and liquid detergent solution, wet abrade to provide a key, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry.
  6. Application: Stir well before use. Apply by brush, roller (medium/long pile), or airless spray. Apply two coats as required.
  7. Airless spray setup: Minimum fluid pressure 2000 psi (136 bar) and minimum tip size 0.018.
  8. Drying: Touch dry 1–2 hours. Recoatable after 4 hours under normal drying conditions.

Cleaning, maintenance & storage

  • Cleaning: Return surplus to the container. Wash tools with clean water immediately after use.
  • Maintenance: Between redecorations, surfaces may be washed with warm water and liquid detergent to remove surface dirt.
  • Storage: Store securely in dry conditions. Keep containers closed during storage. Under normal, frost-free conditions the product remains usable for up to two years if stored correctly and unopened.
