DAP Mouseshield Foam – Pest-Resistant Expanding Sealant for Gaps & Cracks
DAP Mouseshield Foam is a specially formulated expanding foam designed to block mice, rats, insects and other common pests from entering your home. It fills, seals and insulates small gaps, preventing drafts, heat loss and costly damage caused by rodents chewing through wiring, pipes or building materials.
Ideal for use around pipe penetrations, cable entry points, basements, garages, attics, crawl spaces and utility openings, Mouseshield provides a long-lasting barrier while also improving energy efficiency. Once cured, the foam can be trimmed, sanded and painted for a clean finish.

How to Apply DAP Mouseshield Foam
1. Prepare the Area
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, oil or debris. Use drop cloths to protect surrounding areas.
2. Wear PPE
Wear gloves, eye protection and work clothing. Foam is highly adhesive and difficult to remove once cured.
3. Shake and Test
Shake the can for no more than 30 seconds. Test on scrap material to understand expansion and flow.
4. Apply Carefully
Fill gaps only one-third full to allow for expansion. Release the trigger before reaching the end of the gap, as foam continues dispensing briefly.
5. Allow to Cure
Polyurethane foam requires some humidity to cure properly. Apply between 16–38°C (60–100°F). Allow full curing before sanding, trimming or painting.
6. Cleanup
Clean spills immediately with acetone. Do not use water. Cured foam cannot be dissolved — it must be mechanically removed.
